Know Your Military and PA CareerLink® Services

Presented by: Norm Magliocca

For employers to make the business decision to actively recruit, interview, and hopefully employ military veterans they need to know what veterans did before and during their military service that makes them a great candidates to consider for employment. Topics to be covered include:

  • The education, training, and skills, obtained by veterans before, during, and after their military service.
  • What is needed to create and implement a plan to recruit, hire, and retain veterans.
  • Tax incentives for employing veterans and other individuals through the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and how to apply for them.
  • The On the Job Training Program (OJT) offered by the Butler County CareerLink®. The OJT program is designed to help employers offset the initial training costs of newly hired employees. Employers could receive up to $10,000.
  • Federal Bonding Program available to employers who decide to hire applicants with questionable backgrounds.
  • Services that are offered to employers by the Butler County CareerLink® at no cost. Services include access to the PA CareerLink® website which allows employers to create job postings, search for talent, report new hires, and the ability to research labor market information.
  • How to access CareerLink’s Veteran Services Office, the Career T.R.A.C.K. office, and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation which are all collocated at the Butler County CareerLink®
